During the course of a prolific and varied creative life Zoltán Horusitzky (1903-1985) produced a historical Opera, Orchestral works and Concertos, as well as intimate song cycles, chamber music and piano pieces. He was a favourite student of Kodály and his work as pianist, teacher and music educationalist likewise enriched musical life in 20th-century Hungary. This study, written to mark the centenary of his birth, is the first comprehensive survey of his life’s work.
