This selection from the repertoire of studies for clarinet and other instruments has been made especially for pupils at music schools. The simple pieces can be used right from the second semester of the first year of study, however, the studies gradually become more difficult, so they can be used all through the first five years of study. Most of the pieces are in keys with a maximum of three sharps or flats aside from a few with key signatures of four sharps or flats. The collection also provides material suitable for those already adept on the clarinet and those now ready to start the bass clarinet. .

The editor Éva Perényi was guided primarily by musical considerations: the collection contains pieces from many different periods of music history that can also be used as studies. A further advantage of this volume is that its material does not overlap with the series of studies familiar and available internationally, and it contains many Baroque pieces also suitable for use as studies.
