Sziklavári Károly: Lajos Huszár

A scion of the Great Hungarian Plain, the roots of his work are nurtured by the soil of this mythic landscape: the sound of his music is traditional, rugged but also poetical, East-Central European and Hungarian at the same time. His style is innovative, subjectively lyrical. Taken individually and en bloc, his opera, several song cycles, the Passion, the Resurrection Oratorio and the Icons in memory of János Pilinszky all go to prove that he is a current master of the great vocal forms.
