The composer of the Baroque era and perhaps of the whole history of music who knew most about the recorder was Georg Philipp Telemann. His sonatas recorder belong to the basic repertory of each professional and pretentious amateur player of the instrument. The complete edition of his sonatas is still missing and the quality of the available editions of the various pieces is definitely uneven. It is thus a pioneering work to publish Telemann's complete sonata output in the EMB Urtext series.

EMB Urtext Series
The volumes of this series go back to the contemporary sources and attempt to come as near as possible to the composers' original intentions, stripping the works of the frequently arbitrary editorial markings which they became burdened with over the course of several decades. The necessary emendations and information on techniques are distinguished unambiguously from the original music text. The use of urtext editions appear as basic requirements on the part of music teachers and performers alike.
