Gilányi Gabriella: László Dubrovay
Hungarian Composers 30
book
His compositions strive after musical regeneration and include all traditional forms. He has written vocal and orchestral works, chamber compositions, opera, ballet, electronic works and works for solo instruments. His creative imagination was occupied with new possibilities, and undiscovered and challenging paths. He was led, on the one hand, to explore electronic music and the possibilities offered by the world of sound, and on the other hand, to remain faithful to his roots and respect traditions. Although some of his works are still lying in a drawer despite undergoing revision, Dubrovay believes that not one note in his creative oeuvre proved to be redundant. It is Dubrovay’s artistic belief that all the inspiration and knowledge that he has absorbed over the years have found their place in his oeuvre.
