In 1981, shortly after the highly successful Paris premiere of The Messages of the Late R.V. Truszova, Kurtág set out to create its counterpart and opposite, another Russian-language love song cycle based on Rimma Dalos Rimma' poems. Truszova's universal passion and sensuality shrinks into a more closed world, anxiety is replaced by self-reflection. The colorful chamber orchestra of the previous cycle gives way to a "gypsy band", so the accompaniment becomes more homogeneous and contoured. And the humor that often turns into the grotesque also plays an important role.
