Chamber Music for Violoncellos Volume 8 contains four-part pieces, begins with the theme of the slow movement of Haydn's Kaiser' quartet (the melody of the Austrian imperial anthem) and two of the variations on that theme. Slav music is represented by Tchaikovsky's Orthodox chorale, the Russian Folksong by Ljadov, originally performed on four cellos, and Dvořák's Walzer. The last-mentioned piece is technically demanding. The final work is a Serenade by the 19th-century cellist and composer Georg Goltermann.

2.
Tchaikovsky, Pyotr Ilyich: Orthodox chorale
3.

Chamber Music for Violoncellos
The wide range of the cello allows for the possibility of three or four cellos to play in different positions in order to create the sounds necessary for a fully-voiced chamber ensemble. This practice of transcribing works for multiple cellos began to gain popularity in the 19th century, and renowned pedagogue/composer Árpád Pejtsik has continued the tradition in this series.
