The author writes about his work: "The composition was written in 1994 and premiered the same year in Pécs, at the House of Arts. I wrote these three short piano pieces as a gift to the musicians with whom I worked almost every day for a quarter of a century: Zoltán Jeney, László Sáry and András Wilheim. The dedications of the individual movements are also addressed to them. The musical material directly refers to Satie's work [3 Gymnopédies, 1888]: the structure of the original pieces is conveyed in a different way, but automatically "translated", as if the original works would be performed on a keyboard with an unknown assignment. Although each note has its exact signature, we still do not hear more of the original work than when we hear music through the headphones of the person sitting next to us. In the first two gymnopedias, all the notes are played, but in the last one, the pianist only plays mostly muted sounds."
